Sketchbook C

 

The overall message of this piece was the negative effect of religion (mainly Christianity) on people of the LGBTQ+ community. The quote/slogan "If God said to love all, why is my love the exception?" is one that I came up with and is inspired by the Bible verse John 15:12 "My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you."

My idea with the illustration was basically someone being "persecuted" by religion. I had a few ideas (as seen below in the concept sketches) but decided to land on the one with the noose because I wanted to take a more symbolic approach to the assignment.
